The health hazards associated with riding horned saddles are well known. Many leading ethical and peer reviewed medical journals refer to these hazards, a sample of which can be found using the medical references below. Research also suggests that making certain alterations to your bike and saddle will lessen your chances of experiencing back pain and saddle soreness. The adjustments suggested are to use a wider seat, which supports the pelvis, use a padded seat and stand up in the seat at regular intervals.
Research from Austria, published in the Lancet describes damage to the groin area caused by mountain bike activity and suggests the use of improved suspension systems on bicycles.
All these recommendations are addressed in the design of the Comfort Saddle.
